Abstract

This research examines the application of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) to portray educational scenarios for teacher preparation. In particular, it examines how scenario simulations from GenAI can improve pre‐service teachers' preparedness by providing realistic classroom interactions and feedback. With a quasi‐experimental design and treatment and control groups of teacher‐education students (N = 120), the study tests differences in self-efficacy, pedagogical decision‐making ability, and reflective ability before and after intervention. Results are statistically significant in the treatment group in comparison with the control group and indicate that GenAI-simulated situations could be a valuable addition to teacher preparation programs. Challenges, limitations, and implications for teacher educators and policy makers are also addressed in the study.
