Abstract

Faqeer Ghulam Haider Nizamani (1933-2002), a revered Sindhi Mystic, folk poet devotee and singer of shah abdul latif Bhitai sacred musical tradition known as Shah jo Risalo Belonging to the Nizamani Tribe originally from Dera ghazi khan, Baluchistan. Faqeer Ghulam Haider was born in the village of Hayat khan Nizamani Near Hala, Matiari District. Introduced to poetry of shah abdul lateef’s poetry at the age of twelve he memorized the entire risalo and devoted his life to preserving and promoting Sindhi folk literature and Latifi spiritual traditions.  He Began Shah jo raag at his personal Otaq every Wednesday night, and was later appointed to lead the Thursday night performance at Bhit Shah. After his death on 29th march 2002, his sons have continued both the musical and scholarly traditions he established. This article presents his biographical and literary study of Faqeer Ghulam Haider Nizamani.
