ANTHROPOCENTRISM IN POST-COLONIAL LITERATURE: ANALYZING ANIMAL MARGINALIZATION THROUGH MUTT'S PERSPECTIVE IN RED BIRDS BY MUHAMMAD HANIF

The research aims at highlighting the 'animal's marginalization' in the 'anthropocentric' human society along with uncovering animal's 'double subaltern status' due to their being a belonging to a subaltern society through the character of dog named as "Mutt", from the postcolonial context provided in the novel "Red Birds" by Pakistani writer "Muhammad Hanif". The research applied the post- colonel theory of "subalternity" from the essay "Can the Subaltern Speak?" By "Gayatri Chakravorty Spivek". The primary as well as secondary data collection method is used to do a comprehensive literature review and to gather relevant data. The study followed the close-reading method of analyzing the data. The research is qualitative and achieves the outcome of identifying Mutt's marginal and subaltern status.
