VOICES OF DIVERSITY: EVALUATING CULTURAL IDENTITIES IN THE SELECTED SOUTH ASIAN FICTION

The representation of cultural diversity within South Asian literature has emerged as a pivotal area of inquiry within English studies, reflecting the complex interplay of regional identities, historical narratives, and global perspectives. English works as a mean of expression and a tool for cultural preservation and innovation in literary traditions of South Asia. This study investigates how South Asian Anglophone writer works as a source of power in directing the themes of identity, tradition, globalization, complexities and modernity to articulate diverse cultural experiences and a medium for creative innovation. The study explores the globalization, identity and the conflict between tradition and modernity in Mohsin Hamid’s work "The Reluctant Fundamentalist", cultural adaptation, hybridity, identity and community in Monica Ali’s work “Brick Lane”, reimagine traditional myths and narratives while portraying the diversity of South Asian cultures in Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni’s "Palace of Illusions" through Homi k Bhaba’s concept of hybridity and Third space. These literary works projects the complexities of globalization with redefining conventional concept of literary canons and cultural authenticity in the region.
