Abstract

Financial crisis may significantly create the situation where peoples experience a sharp decline in values which later effect the mental health and increased the psychopathologies among society and it leads toward suicidal attemptation. The aim of the current study is to find out the role of depression and self-esteem in financial crisis among working and non-working men.

Methods: Total of N = 100 men with equal distribution N = 50 working and N = 50 non-working was recruited from Faisalabad city. Random sample technique was used.

Results: The result indicated that depression (r = .67, p < .001) and low self-esteem (r = .78, p < .001) significant correlate with financial crisis. On the other hand, t-test result indicated that non-working men are more prone to Depression (t = 2.29, p < .001) and low self-esteem (t = 3.02, p < .001) than working men.

Conclusion: Implication of the current study is wider in the field of social and clinical psychology which is discussed.
