Abstract

Scopophilia is the key element in films and various anime series to attract the audience and helps the film industry to flourish. The structure of film and anime revolves around the scopophilia that further strengthens the male dominance and controls the abilities of actresses in film industry. The study tries to explore the concept of scopophilia, its types; narcissistic and voyeuristic scopophilia and how they regulate the plot of Death Note. Scopophilia is induced in the series through the character of Misa Amane. Misa Amane's true power and abilities are subordinated in the unconscious realm of scopophilic mind-set. It also tries to explore the function of counter cinema as a savior of women identity as it gives women chance to select the leading role without working of scopophilia.
